Belcourt of Newport
Newport, RI, United States
Inspired by Alva Vanderbilt’s innovative vision and style, Carolyn Rafaelian is currently in the process of restoring the mansion’s every facet. Guided tours are available by reservation only. Tours take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10AM.
Designed by architect Richard Morris Hunt and built in the early 1890s, Belcourt of Newport is a living pastiche of history. From the palace of versailles in France to the freemasons of America, the surreal mansion draws on a tradition of splendor.
In today's Belcourt, historic ornateness and cutting-edge innovation mingle. The glamour of Newport's Gilded Age is preserved through thoughtful, precise restorations enabled by modern technology.
A large-scale restoration project is underway - and Belcourt is being revived to its original glory. Click herefor a closer look at the process.
